A New York federal judge has ruled that advertising claims by BAR/BRI were mere puffery that cannot be the basis for a lawsuit.
The suit had claimed BAR/BRI engaged in false advertising and caused tens of thousands of law students to overpay for the bar review course. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Kahn of Albany disagreed and dismissed the suit, the National Law Journal reports.
Kahn said the ad statements cited in the complaint were "nonactionable puffing" and a "self-serving endorsement."
