Banned from the main Broward County, Fla., courthouse and reassigned to work on traffic cases after a reported verbal altercation with another judge, Judge Jay Spechler resigned earlier this year.
But now he has sued Broward Chief Judge Victor Tobin personally for defamation, contending also that Tobin created a hostile work environment and forced him to resign, reports the Miami Herald. He is seeking reinstatement to his judicial job, claiming that his demotion was unconstitutional, and an unspecified amount of monetary damages.
''I did receive it today, and I think the lawsuit is unworthy of comment from me,'' says Tobin.

I think it is great that there is a lawsuit that will help to define limits to judicial conduct. My husband is from a farming background and said his father told him that people who slaughter animals are supposed to be limited as to how long they can do so because the slaughtering makes them mean. Maybe judges who rule on criminal cases should receive ongoing therapy and be kept out of civil cases so they won’t be so mean to pro se litigants. Judges should worship the law not feel that they control it or can do anything and everything they want with impunity
