A lawyer-turned-TV writer has posted a satirical look at law firm life in four Webisodes posted on the Bitter Lawyer website.

The Webisodes feature new associate Nick Conley, who works at Sullivan & Moore, “the most prestigious law firm in the entire country.”

In one episode, Nick is directed to perform “due diligence” by reading a stack of documents and finds “a pretty significant typo.” “Welcome to the club, cowboy,” enthuses the assigning partner. Nick wins congratulations from lawyers throughout the firm and later brags about his accomplishment to a skeptical blind date. The woman says she is leaving to make a phone call and never returns.

The Wall Street Journal Law Blog compares the vignettes to the humorous look at corporate life portrayed in the TV show The Office. The writer is Rick Eid, a former Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom associate and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips partner.

If you work in biglaw, watch these.  They are pretty funny, well acted and well produced, and have more than a slight ring of truth to them.  You will recognize several characters.

I get the same reaction when I explain to my six-year-old girl what a productive day I had creating some new language in an intergovernmental agreement.
