The class action law firm Napoli Bern Ripka & Associates has sued a former fen-phen client for defamation.

The East Coast law firm claims ex-client Scott Spielberg defamed the firm for speaking with a New York Times reporter and asking prosecutors to investigate the law firm’s handling of the fen-phen litigation, the New York Sun reports. The suit, filed in Suffolk County, N.Y., is seeking an injunction to prevent Spielberg from making further derogatory comments about the firm.

The fen-phen story written by the Times reporter doesn’t mention Spielberg, a former cabdriver who is unhappy with his compensation in the diet drug litigation. Asked for comment, Spielberg told the Sun, "They don't want me to be able to talk to the press or law enforcement."
