Law School Accepts 8-Year-Old

An 8-year-old boy who passed the entrance exam was enrolled in a Brazilian law school. However, his academic career there came to an abrupt end when school officials realized he couldn't yet have graduated from high school, which is a prerequisite for admission.
"The Universidade Paulista, a multi-campus private university, issued a statement acknowledging that Joao Victor Portellinha de Oliveira had passed the entrance exam and that it initially enrolled him," reports the Canadian Press. "But he was turned away from classes when he showed up on Thursday with his father." The money the family paid for his law school fees will be refunded.
Although the boy is a good student, his own mother says he is no genius. The Brazilian Bar Association complains that his acceptance shows law school admission standards are too lax.
