Lawyer2Love: Snark Offers Advice to Lonelyhearts Associates

Just in time for Valentine's Day, an anonymous legal columnist has come up with a list of suggestions for lonely associates seeking that special someone.

The obvious way to do so, of course, is to place an online personal ad, advises the Snark in a Daily Report article reprinted by New York Lawyer (reg. req.). But doing so in the most effective manner may pose challenges for busy associates bogged down in legal work.

For starters, a catchy screen name is critical. In addition to Lawyer2Love, the Snark likes HoldMyLearnedHand, among other handles discussed in the article.

Next, the right photo can work wonders. Whatever you do, don't use your BigLaw headshot, the columnist advises. "If you have been too busy over the last several years to have any natural and attractive-looking pictures taken of yourself, then bring an appropriate outfit to work and ask the associate next door to snap a photo of you in front of your office fern. You can always Photoshop in a nice mountain range later on."

Finally, it's important to remember that not only Mr. or Ms. Right, but the partner just down the hall may be reading the online personal ad. So don't court professional humiliation by posting a revealing photo or providing too much information.
