A Texas defense lawyer who was briefly jailed for making an obscene courtroom gesture was found guilty of contempt yesterday after he offered this defense: His hand motion was aimed at the prosecuting attorney rather than the judge.

Lawyer Adam Reposa of Austin testified that he made the gesture because the prosecutor offered a plea deal in a DWI case that would have left his client with a criminal record, Keyetv.com reports.

Judge Jan Breland told the visiting judge hearing the contempt case that Reposa had made a gesture simulating masturbation while he looked directly at her, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

Reposa faces up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $500 at sentencing today, the Statesman reports.

Reposa has a YouTube video touting his knowledge about DWI cases. It displays a phone number of 1-800-DWI-Wins.
