A lawyer has told a London court that Spanish authorities took part in the interrogations of two British residents at Guantanamo Bay.

Spain is seeking to extradite the two men, Jamil el-Banna and Omar Deghayes, who were freed from Guantanamo last month. The country wants to prosecute the men based on accusations they participated in an al-Qaida terror cell, Reuters reports.

The lawyer for the two men, Edward Fitzgerald, said his clients are suffering from years of years of "intensive interrogation and torture" and “Spanish authorities are clearly implicated in the ordeal.”
