Lawyer’s Response to Claim: ‘Poop Happens’

Norwalk, Conn., city attorney M. Jeffry Spahr says he was so taken aback when an unusual claim came across his desk that he had to read it twice.

A New York woman who had taken her family to a city aquarium had filed a $100 claim because her child had stepped in dog poop outside the garage, the Stamford Advocate reports.

Spahr said his immediate reaction was disbelief. “It was hilarious,” he said of the claim. “What are these people thinking about? Just when you think you've heard it all."

The claimant, Kelly DeBrocky of Mahopac, N.Y., said she had to spend $54 to buy new shoes for her 1-year-old son and wasted $50 in expenses for the aquarium visit. But Spahr told the Advocate the claim lacks merit, even though it may well be true.

“The official response is her claim is denied—and poop happens," he said.

Americans spend more money on lawsuit.  Hire lawyer, pay court costs, all over step in dog poop?  If I bought new shoes every time I stepped in dog poop, I’d be.......IMELDA MARCOS!
