Legal Services Org. Needs Money, Not More Lawyers

San Francisco’s Volunteer Legal Services Program is more used to recruiting volunteers than turning them away.

But tough economic times have them doing just that. The group already has the volunteers they need, now they'd like for some of this newfound interest in their services to come with a little financial aid, according to the Legal Pad blog.

VLSP Executive Director Tiela Chalmers says she's seen an uptick in volunteering from laid-off lawyers, recent grads and those who are less busy with work at the office.

But Legal Pad notes that VLSP has its own financial needs, and there aren't enough resources train and supervise these eager beavers. "Frankly, at this moment our greatest need is funding," Chalmers says.
