Lerach Seeks Alcohol Treatment in Prison

Securities class action lawyer William Lerach, sentenced to two years in prison for paying kickbacks to lead plaintiffs, has asked the judge in his case to recommend him for an alcohol treatment program during his incarceration.
Lerach’s lawyer, John Keker, made the request in a motion filed with the Los Angeles federal court, the New York Sun reports. "Lerach has suffered for years with severe alcoholism and faces the substantial possibility of relapse without the treatment offered," the motion says.
Participating in a treatment program would separate Lerach from the general prison population for extended periods, the story says. Lerach pleaded guilty to conspiracy for his conduct at his former firm, now known as Milberg.
