Libby Arrives for Sentencing

Posted Jun 5, 2007, 11:15 am CST
By Debra Cassens Weiss

Former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby has arrived at a federal courthouse in Washington, D.C., where he will learn his sentence for lying to a grand jury and FBI agents.

Libby said nothing to reporters as he entered the courthouse, Associated Press reports. He will have the opportunity to speak publicly before Judge Reggie B. Walton imposes the sentence.

Defense attorneys did not indicate what Libby will say if he addresses the court.

Libby was accused of lying about what he told reporters regarding CIA agent Valerie Wilson, whose identity was leaked to reporters.

Libby’s lawyers had argued he should be spared from prison because of his record of public service.
