United Kingdom law firm Linklaters has announced it will increase pay to $131,500 for new lawyers, an increase of almost 4 percent.

Pay will also increase for experienced associates, rising to $139,000 for those with one year of experience and to $179,200 for those with three years of experience, Legal Week reports. The firm also offers generous bonuses that can amount to as much as 50 percent of base salary.

Base pay for Linklaters associates is below that offered by Shearman & Sterling. The firm recently announced it will increase pay for first-year London associates to $158,000, a 7 percent increase.

The law firm Herbert Smith, on the other hand, has announced it will not be increasing salaries for associates, Legal Week reports in a separate story.
