Linklaters, S&C Tops in M&A

London-based Linklaters and New York’s Sullivan & Cromwell were tops in MergerMarket’s list of mergers and acquisitions firms for the first three quarters of 2008, AmLaw Daily reports. The lists include firms that acted as counsel to principals and underwriters.
The number of deals announced globally fell from 3,407 in the second quarter to 2,352 in the third, while the value of deals rose from $686 billion to $735 billion, London’s Legal Week reports.
Linklaters has advised on 184 deals this year, worth $602 billion, while Sullivan & Cromwell has been involved in many of the banking crisis deals stemming from the upheaval on Wall Street.
