Lisa Marie Presley Sues Paper: I Was Pregnant, Not Fat

Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of famed rock-and-roll singer Elvis Presley, has sued a British newspaper, contending that her privacy was invaded when it falsely claimed that she was fat.

Rather than simply "piling on the pounds," as the Daily Mail initially reported in an article criticizing her allegedly unhealthy eating habits, she was in fact pregnant, says Presley, 40. She contends in a lawsuit filed at London's High Court that the article was degrading and slanderous, according to Time magazine.

"My client is deeply upset and offended by this article, especially as it was widely published just as she and her family were meant to be celebrating her happy news," says her attorney, Simon Smith. He will represent Presley at the High Court, reports Reuters.
