Labor and employment powerhouse Littler Mendelson is continuing its Midwest expansion by opening an office in Detroit.

More than 700 lawyers strong, Littler is making the move by absorbing the boutique firm DeWitt, Balke & Vincent, according to a release.

"This addition to Littler will significantly enhance our ability to assist employers in this key area of the country,” said Marko Mrkonich, Littler's managing director and president. "The skills that the DeWitt lawyers bring, combined with a presence in Detroit’s business center, will allow Littler to reach a new pool of employers."

Earlier this year the firm opened a new office in St. Louis, its 44th. The Detroit office will be No. 45.
