A Massachusetts state prosecutor was charged yesterday with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old Friday at the Attleboro District Courthouse.

At his arraignment yesterday, Pete Joseph Costanza, 39, who is an assistant Bristol County district attorney, pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, assault and battery, and attempted extortion, reports the Boston Globe.

He is accused of assaulting the victim, who was involved in a criminal case, in a conference room near a courtroom.

The case against Costanza is being prosecuted by the Plymouth County district attorney's office.
