A pilot who apparently tried to fake his death by parachuting from his plane before it crashed has been arrested at a Florida campground.

Marcus Schrenker, an Indiana investment adviser, was arrested in Quincy in the northern part of the state, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service told the Associated Press. He had cut his wrist in an apparent suicide attempt.

“Schrenker was on the run not only from the law but from divorce, a state investigation of his businesses and angry investors who accuse him of stealing potentially millions in savings they entrusted to him,” the AP story says. The Indiana Department of Insurance had filed a complaint against Shrenker that claimed he never disclosed high fees that cost seven investors in annuities more than $250,000, according to a different AP story.
