Mom Accused of Munchausen’s Seeks Free Transcript in Custody Appeal

An Ohio woman accused of seeking unnecessary medical treatment of her son is seeking free transcripts for a temporary custody appeal.
Angie Cox of Findlay says she and her husband, Chris, have spent more than $30,000 so far on their case and cannot afford another $15,000 to $20,000 to get the transcripts, the Courier reports. Their lawyer, Charles Hall Jr., says his clients will be denied due process if they don’t get the transcripts provided at public expense.
The judge in the case, Allan Davis, ruled the couple was not entitled to transcripts or lawyers free of charge since the matter is civil in nature and involves only temporary, rather than permanent, custody.
Four of the couple's five children were removed from their home in October following a complaint that alleged Angie Cox suffered from Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy, which caused her to seek unnecessary medical treatment for her oldest child. Cox says she was only seeking a diagnosis for the 13-year-old boy.
