Following months of investigation in a much-publicized case of a missing Florida toddler, a grand jury has indicted her mother in a first-degree murder case.

Casey Anthony, 22, also was charged with aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and providing false information to law enforcement in the indictment unsealed today, reports ABC News. Her daughter, Caylee, would have been 2 years old when authorities began looking for her this this summer.

"Suspicion has swirled around Anthony since her daughter, Caylee, was reported missing July 15 in Orange County," the network writes. "At the time, Anthony allegedly told her family and police she had not seen her daughter for 31 days, and investigators said she had given them changing and inaccurate information since then."

However, attorney Jose Baez, who represents Anthony, says her behavior will be explained at trial.

A law enforcement source tells the network that authorities have found evidence of human decomposition in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car.
