After picking up all of the approximately 20 lawyers in Thelen’s China office late last month, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has signed on a partner and counsel in Washington, D.C. from the San Francisco-based firm’s construction litigation and international dispute practices.

Michael Jaffe, formerly chairman of the international arbitration and disputes resolution groups at Thelen, was due to start as a partner at Pillsbury on Wednesday, as was counsel Ronan McHugh, according to Legal Times. They may bring two or three associates with them.

As noted in prior ABAJournal.com coverage, Thelen now has nearly 200 fewer lawyers since the merger that created the law firm in 2006. It has been in merger talks with Nixon Peabody, but there have been widespread rumors those talks have been called off, the Recorder reported in a Sept. 30 story.
