The chairman of a House committee has warned Attorney General Michael Mukasey he could be held in contempt of Congress if he doesn’t turn over documents from an FBI interview with Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Oversight and Government Reform Committee is set to vote on the contempt citation on July 16, the Associated Press reports. Committee chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., said in a letter of warning to Mukasey that the information is needed to complete the committee probe into the leak of a CIA agent’s identity.

In a June 24 letter, the Justice Department declined to provide the documents, saying it would discourage White House officials from cooperating in future criminal investigations.
