Murderer Loses, Jurors Win Wedding

A murder trial led to matrimony for two Queens, N.Y., jurors who met while sitting on the same jury panel and are to be married next month by the presiding judge in the case.

Given all the time that panel members spend together—while under strict instructions to say nothing about the case—"It was a very good way to get to know someone," Traci Nagy, 36, alternate juror No. 3, tells the New York Daily News. Her husband-to-be, Jonathan Cinkay, 33, served as Juror No. 6. "My friends said to me, 'It would take a murder trial for you to meet the right person,'" he recounts.

Despite all the smiling faces in the jury box, as other panel members tried to help cultivate the romance, there was one participant in the trial who wasn't thrilled with the way the murder trial worked out. The defendant was convicted.

"It was a terrible trial because it was very difficult to hear and the families were very upset," Nagy tells the newspaper. "But there really was no doubt. ... There was just so much evidence."
