Ohio Lawyer and University Trustee Indicted Over Real Estate Deal

A partner in an Akron, Ohio, law firm who is also a trustee of the University of Akron has been charged in a misdemeanor ethics case concerning a real estate deal that involved the university and property in which he allegedly had an interest.
Jack Morrison Jr., 56, has been indicted by a grand jury in Summit County and charged with seven counts of violating state ethics laws, reports the Akron Beacon Journal.
He ''allegedly had an undisclosed and prohibited interest while serving as a University of Akron trustee, and which the University sought to acquire,'' the newspaper writes, quoting from a press release by the Summit County Prosecutor's Office and Ohio Ethics Commission.
Specifically, the case concerns a rental house the university agreed to purchase for $110,000 from Morrison's son. Morrison didn't vote on the matter, and joined with the university in requesting the investigation that resulted in the indictment, the newspaper reports.
Morrison is a partner in the Amer Cunningham law firm.
