O.J. Simpson returns to the courtroom today for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to try him for the armed robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia dealers.

The case is likely to turn on whether Simpson asked the men who accompanied him to a Las Vegas hotel room to bring guns and whether he knew they had weapons with them, the Associated Press reports. Simpson maintains he went to the hotel room to retrieve stolen merchandise.

Three co-defendants have agreed to plead guilty and are expected to testify against Simpson. Gabriel Grasso, a lawyer for Simpson, told the New York Daily News he did not intend to call any witnesses or present a defense. “It’s not the forum to bring them,” he said.
