Oklahoma Bar GC Arrested on Sexual Battery Charge

The general counsel of the Oklahoma Bar Association was arrested Saturday on a charge of sexual battery, the Oklahoman reports.

The story did not have details of the complaint against lawyer Dan Murdock. He refused comment on his arrest, but his lawyer Tom Riesen said Murdock denies that inappropriate conduct occurred.

Riesen told the Oklahoman that Murdock has been a well-respected attorney in the Oklahoma City area for 35 years, including nearly 20 years with the bar association. Murdock said he was arrested close to midnight on Saturday while hosting a wedding shower for a couple.

Bar association executive director John Morris Williams called Murdock a valuable employee. Murdock and his staff are responsible for investigating misconduct allegations against lawyers, the story says.

Oklahoma really needs to clean up their act.  Seems as though this is quickly becoming the norm for counsel in the state.
