Oops. Troutman Accidentally Provides Partial Layoffs Tally

Although Troutman Sanders confirmed last month that the law firm is laying off lawyers and staff, its managing partner won't say how many.

But the firm's website shows the 750-attorney international firm has 28 fewer lawyers now than it did six weeks ago, recounts the Daily Report in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

While a spokesman won't confirm that all 28 were laid off, as opposed to perhaps leaving the firm for another reason, it appears that some of those who have been asked to leave haven't yet done so: One partner tells the legal publication that he saw someone in the elevator recently who was on the layoffs list.

Says spokesman Mark Braykovich: "There [are] some different active dates for this. I think they'll all be gone in the near future.”
