One of three defendants has settled a lawsuit that claimed an agricultural pesticide caused sterility in workers at Nicaraguan banana plantations, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Amvac Chemical Corp. of Newport Beach, Calif., will pay $300,000 to settle the case. It denies any wrongdoing.

Other defendants are Dow Chemical Co. and Dole Fruit Co. The case is scheduled for trial next month in Los Angeles.
