Polo Ralph Lauren Loses Logo Appeal

Polo Ralph Lauren has lost a federal appeal that sought to keep the United States Polo Association from using logos on apparel that featured two polo players on horseback.
The New York City-based 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last week affirmed a jury finding that three out of four of the polo group’s logos did not infringe the Ralph Lauren trademark, the Associated Press reports. The court noted that the group’s silhouette logos featured two horsemen compared to just one on the Lauren trademark, and they had the lettering "USPA,” the AP story says.
The jury had found infringement for just one logo, which shows a solid silhouette of the two horsemen without the “USPA” letters, the New York Law Journal reports.
