Pop Star Owes Legal Fees

Lawyers for pop star Michael Jackson have told him to “Beat It” on more than one occasion.
The latest dispute ended last week when a Los Angeles judge ordered Jackson to pay nearly $217,000 in legal fees to a law firm that handled side issues during his child molestation trial.
Ayscough & Marar of Torrance, Calif., will receive the sum along with $39,000 in interest, the Associated Press reports. The firm helped prevent the release of information to the public during Jackson’s 2005 trial, which ended with his acquittal.
Jackson's attorney, Marshall Brubacher, told the judge he would agree to the judgment to “stop the hemorrhaging.”
This isn’t the first dispute between Michael Jackson and his lawyers. ABC News reported last year that law firm Wachtel & Masyr withdrew as Jackson’s counsel in a different case because it wasn’t being paid and couldn’t reach the singer.
Attorneys from Latham & Watkins also quit the case in November 2005 because of unpaid bills, the ABC story said.
