Possible Dad Seeks Paternity Test re Octuplets, Amidst Medical Debate

A new contestant weighed in today in a controversial pregnancy that has ignited international legal debate.
Saying that he had donated his sperm, at Nadya Suleman's request, during the course of a three-year relationship, Denis Beaudoin announced today on national television that he might be the father of her octuplets and wants a paternity test, reports the L.A. Now blog of the Los Angeles Times. The California woman has not said who the father is.
Meanwhile, the extraordinary live birth of all eight infants has sparked both a medical-ethics investigation of the doctor involved in artificially inseminating Suleman and a call by some for the U.S. to adopt new embryo transfer standards similar to those in effect in England and Sweden. Both limit to two the number of embryos that can be implanted by a doctor in a woman's womb, reports the Associated Press.
