Pregnant Lawyer Pleads to Faking Abduction; May Face More Charges

A pregnant Ohio lawyer who claimed she was kidnapped pleaded guilty today to one count of making false alarms.
Karyn McConnell Hancock, 35, was missing for three days in December. When she surfaced, she told authorities that a man abducted her outside the juvenile court in Toledo, Ohio, and drove her to Georgia, the Associated Press reports.
McConnell Hancock's attorney, Jerry Phillips, reportedly expects more charges relating to accusations from former clients who say she stole money from them, the AP reports.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 19 in municipal court.
The Toledo Blade notes that McConnell Hancock was arraigned before a retired judge and the case is being handled by a visiting prosecutor because her father, C. Allen McConnell, is a municipal court judge.
