Private Investors Seek Litigation Management Role

A private investment company has announced an unusual plan to help reform the American litigation system by promoting so-called legal entrepreneurship.

In a Prime Newswire press release published by Reuters, Ronald Gruner, president of the Vallex Fund, announces the formation of a new investment group to fund such efforts.

An accompanying Vallex Fund report (PDF), suggests that the group intends to focus on two companies. One, Court's Counsel, would provide independent witnesses exclusively to the judiciary, rather than to parties in court cases, and the other, Case Contractors, would "serve as general contractors for managing lawsuits," the report states.

Specifically, the latter company would "provide administrative and management services for budget development, competitive bidding, budget versus actual cost tracking, cost-benefit analysis, project management and other services to assure the client's lawsuit is executed as efficiently as possible," the report explains.
