Psychologist Settles BTK Tape Suit

A psychologist hired to interview the BTK killer has agreed to pay $30,000 to settle charges he profited from a videotape of Dennis Rader’s comments.
After the tape ended up on Dateline NBC, the state of Kansas sued Massachusetts psychologist Robert Mendoza, along with an associate and their company, Cambridge Forensic Consultants, according to Associated Press.
Mendoza denies any wrongdoing in the settlement. The money will go to 10 families of Rader’s victims.
The state claimed Mendoza violated a contract with a state board that provides indigent defense. Rader’s public lawyers had hired Mendoza to make the tape in an effort to humanize their client, according to the Wichita Eagle.
Mendoza claimed in depositions that the last person with the tape was the person he had hired to produce it--reality TV star Omarosa of The Apprentice.
