Regent 2L Sues Over Suspension for Robertson Web Post

A Regent University law student has sued the school for suspending him after he posted an online photo of school president Pat Robertson with his middle finger extended.

Robertson was scratching his face with his middle finger in the photo, posted on student Adam Key’s Facebook page, but the gesture appeared to be obscene.

The suit, filed in federal court in Houston where Key lives, claims the school suspended Key without notice or an opportunity to be heard. The Virginian-Pilot puts the period of Key’s suspension at one year while the Tex Parte blog says it is two years.

Key’s suit also alleges the school defamed him and violated his right to free expression, required under requirements of the Higher Education Act for schools that receive federal funds. It also claims he was “fraudulently induced” to enroll at the school on the basis of Regent’s assurances that it allowed religious liberty and free speech.

Key’s lawyer, Randall Kallinen, told the Virginian-Pilot that the school has a double standard.

"Pat Robertson can say anything he wants about anybody," Kallinen said. "He has advocated the assassination of [Venezuelan President] Hugo Chavez and called for the city of Orlando to be destroyed by meteors and tornadoes. But when Adam Key makes a comment, he gets kicked out of school."

Ya know boy, I’m doing God’s work here and all I ask is that submit to the same types of punishments that get dished out in Sudan.  After all, I have God’s ear more than that Moohamid fella.  You insulted my religion’s prophet (myself) and you have to be punished.

Pat Robertson makes a caricature and a fool of himself on tv daily.  He feigns healing and holiness and words of knowledge for the purpose of bringing in money.  His prophesies are ridiculous and as a Christian I find him disgusting.  He is not at all a Christ-ian.  He smears anyone who does not agree with him.  I am praying for Adam Key because I know that Pat Robertson and his goons will mercilessly attack him and his loved ones.  I know that Pat Robertson does not care about the Commandments of the Constitution and I know that he will cheat in order to win.  He is a very vicious and vengeful megalomaniac.  HIs son is a chip off the old block.  Adulterer Gordon is poised now to continue bilking faithfuls for another generation.

no one who is a follower of Christ is boastful or arrogant and prideful
i appreciate the way Cheryl Spencer wrote Christ-ian because if we share in that worthy name we are able to reflect His light to any darkness we encounter, and Pat Robertson’s life off camera is not at all a reflection of His light it is a shame this man is such a visible example and yet we cannot see Christ in him
why would a leader in Christianity not make peace with the young student instead of making a mountain of a molehill this is silly and such a waste and shame

to bear the name Christian is life-transforming NOT life-abating and generous in forgiveness
a Christian man would settle this quietly out of court

Just imagine if Pat Robertson spent as much time, energy, and money making peace, offering forgiveness, and restoring lives as he does meddling, gossiping, stirring up controversy, causing strife and smearing lives!
    He is NOT a Christ-ian.
