Rowdy Celtics Fan Damages Legal Aid Office

A rowdy fan of the Boston Celtics used street sign poles to break the windows of Greater Boston Legal Services after the team won the NBA championship last week.

GBLS executive director Robert Sable told the blog of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly that shards of broken glass have destroyed the nonprofit’s newly renovated lobby. “We probably spent at least $300,000” on the lobby, Sable said. “We had brand-new windows, brand-new furniture and a really nice kids’ area.”

A YouTube video shows revelers shouting their approval as the windows are broken. “What is so depressing,” Sable says, “is that the crowd cheers like they have done something worthwhile.”

A hat tip to the Wisconsin Law Journal and Legal Blog Watch.
