Schumer Aide Who Led Prosecutor Firing Probe Tapped for NY US Atty

President Obama has chosen a lawyer who led a probe into the firing of U.S. attorneys to fill the top federal prosecutor spot in Manhattan.
Preet Bharara investigated the dismissals as chief counsel to Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., the New York Times reports.
Bharara was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from 2000 to 2005, prosecuting organized crime and narcotics cases. He attended Columbia Law School.
Obama has also chosen a nominee to become U.S. attorney for New Jersey. He is Paul Fishman, a Harvard Law School graduate and a partner at Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman, which has offices in New York City and Newark. Fishman previously worked 11 years as a federal prosecutor in the New Jersey office, where he oversaw the criminal division, and as a senior Justice Department adviser to former Attorney General Janet Reno, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reports.
