Shearman & Sterling will be opening a second office in Italy in January to service its expanding business in the country.

The new Milan outpost will be staffed by partners and associates from the firm's existing Rome office, the firm announces in a press release.

"We believe the market for Italian law transactional work is expanding. Northern Italy is one of the most dynamic economic environments within the country," says Creighton Condon, the firm's European managing partner.

"We already have a strong client base in Milan and, with our new office, we will be even better placed to support clients in Milan and Rome with their domestic and cross-border work."

Hat tip: Legal Week.
