A lawyer who has represented Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan is one of six entertainment lawyers jumping to Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi.

The lawyers are leaving Dreier Stein Kahan Browne Woods George, a Santa Monica, Calif., law firm once affiliated with the troubled Dreier law firm in New York. Dreier Stein announced it was cutting ties with New York lawyer Marc Dreier late last year after he was accused in a $100 million investment fraud.

The group leaping to Robins Kaplan includes Michael Plonsker and Yakub Hazzard, who were co-chairs of Dreier Stein’s entertainment practice, according to a Robins Kaplan press release. Besides Spears and Lohan, Plonsker’s clients have included Jodie Foster, Billy Bob Thornton, Meg Ryan, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The press release says the group represents “a significant element” of the entertainment and media practice of Dreier Stein. The lawyers will launch a new entertainment and media practice at Robins Kaplan.

The lawyers are the latest to defect from Dreier Stein, the Recorder reports. Partners Lawrence Stein and Robert Kahan are moving to separate firms, while about 20 other lawyers are leaving for their own litigation boutique.
