Inspired by a law blog's call for spur-of-the-moment entries into a law firm-related song contest, an aspiring songwriter at one of the nation's best-known BigLaw firms stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.

After writing "Skadden, You Gladden My Heart" in about an hour, senior associate Stacy Kray of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom won top honors from the the Am Law Litigation Daily for her effort.

The prize? The Am Law article doesn't indicate that Kray, who has an environmental practice at the firm's San Francisco office, gets anything other than a higher profile on the blogosphere. However, the firm didn't lose anything from the effort, Kray notes in her lyrics, which explain that she penned the song in her free time.

More information about Kray's musical interests can be found on her MySpace page.
