Skadden is Top Deal-Meister

Although its lead has narrowed a bit, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom is still ahead of its closest law firm rival, Sullivan & Cromwell, for the title of top law firm deal-meister this year.
So far in 2008, Skadden has provided legal advice on mergers and acquisitions worth about $361.2 billion, according to Bloomberg. Sullivan & Cromwell was counsel in another $346.7 billion worth of announced corporate deals.
Skadden was legal counsel in six of the 10 biggest deals in 2008.
While deals are down this year because of the struggling economy, foreign buyers are finding the U.S. market attractive because of the relatively low value of the dollar, the news agency reports.
