SoloSez Offers Lawyers a ‘Cyberconnection’

The ABA’s SoloSez listserv offers solo and small-firm lawyers a chance to share professional advice and interact with each other, a formula that appears to be working.

The number of lawyers participating now stands at more than 3,100, only 12 years after the e-mail discussion list's creation, writes Keith McLennan, chair of SoloSez’s sponsor, the ABA General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division, in an article on law.com.

Duke Drouillard of Omaha, Neb., says he sees the law from many different perspectives as he reads the advice of different SoloSez members. Camaraderie is also a benefit.

"It allows solo practitioners to reach out to other people,” Drouillard said. “Since most of us do not have an office with people around us, the cyberconnection takes the place of human contact."
