Allen Matkins is laying off fewer than 10 associates and cutting pay for others in slow practice areas.

Law firm executive director Mike Palmer told the Recorder that the pay cuts range from 15 percent to 30 percent, and primarily affect associates in the slow practice areas of real estate and corporate law. He said he hopes the cuts, scheduled to take place in November, are temporary.

Palmer also confirmed the layoffs of “fewer than 10” associates in the law firm’s biggest offices.

Allen Matkins announced a first round of salary cuts and layoffs in March. For most associates, the current pay cut was their first, Palmer told the Recorder.

Above the Law was first to report the news.
