A former partner’s $8.5 million lawsuit against Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal gets under way this week.

Douglas Rosenthal claims Sonnenschein forced him to retire and underpaid him for work on two cases. Superior Court Judge Melvin Wright threw out the retirement claim but allowed trial on the pay dispute, reports The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times.

Rosenthal claims the law firm underpaid him even as it earned about $37 million in fees in the two lawsuits. The first was against Libya for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and the second was against Microsoft for alleged antitrust violations.
