A suburban Chicago judge has resigned after police called to the scene of a traffic accident said she was belligerent and used racial slurs.

Judge Marcella Lipinski was charged with disorderly conduct after her car was hit by another car driven by an African-American woman, the Chicago Tribune reports. The newspaper says police accused Lipinski of using slurs after the minor accident.

The driver, Nicole Vinci, described in the Southtown Star as a prospective law student, said Lipinski became angry after the accident and slammed her purse into her car.
