Suit Seeks to Force Democrats to Count Florida Delegates

A federal lawsuit filed yesterday claims the Democratic Party is required to count all of Florida’s delegates because of the state’s history of discrimination.
The suit notes that Section Five of the Voting Rights Act requires the Justice Department to approve any significant voting change in Florida to make sure it preserves the rights of minority voters, the Miami Herald reports. The suit contends the party’s plans to penalize Florida for holding its primary too early will disenfranchise minority voters in violation of the law.
Florida Senate Democratic Leader Steve Geller filed the suit along with two other Democrats.

Alas, they’ve played the race card. This just reeks of desperation. Florida knew the rules and Florida broke the rules. Now, Florida wants to Scalia the rules.

How is this playing the race card? In this country every vote should count? There are not formal rules or laws about when the primaries should be held - only traditions in case you did not know that. DNC chairman Former Gov. Dean just decided to “enforce” an ambiguous tradition. I challenge you to find any codified rule, regulation or law on the matter - it doesn’t exist.
