Suits Claim Grout-Sealer Injuries

Home Depot is defending 31 product liability suits that contend an aerosol grout sealer caused serious lung damage.

Also named in the suits are five companies that manufactured and distributed the ingredient, Flexipel, used in its Stand ’N Seal spray, according to the Fulton County Daily Report. More than 160 plaintiffs are claiming injuries.

The suits have been consolidated for discovery under U.S. District Judge Thomas Thrash Jr. of Atlanta.

The defendants are pointing fingers of blame at each other and contending the product was misused. Home Depot attorney John MacNaughton says the retailer places its highest priority on customer safety and relies on vendors to inform it of product problems.
