Teen Violence Up in London; ‘Harry Potter’ Actor is Killed

It isn't just in major cities in the U.S. that recent spates of violence, often attributed to teens and young adults, have sparked concern.

A top official at Scotland Yard has warned British parents to find out whether their children are carrying knives, after attacks killed 14 teens in London so far this year, including an 18-year-old actor who appears in a minor role in an upcoming Harry Potter movie, reports the London Times.

There have been at least 28 teen murders throughout the country in 2008, according to the Telegraph. It says 14 of them died in knife attacks, 10 of which were in London.

Suspects are still being sought in some of the murders, but those now being held are as young as 12 and 13, according to the Times.

Karl Bishop, 21, from Sidcup, in Kent, is accused of stabbing to death Robert Knox, who plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, according to the Times and the Hollywood Gossip.

The murder reportedly occurred Saturday during a fight outside a bar in London and sent five men to the hospital. Knox was defending his younger brother, the Telegraph says.
