Texas Supreme Court Justice Cleared in Election-Related Ethics Complaint

Texas Supreme Court Justice Nathan Hecht no longer faces an ethics complaint claiming he misused campaign cash to pay for personal trips to his hometown near Dallas.
The Texas Ethics Commission determined the complaint should be dismissed because of insufficient evidence of a campaign law violation, the Houston Chronicle reports. Hecht has previously said he made the trips to advance his campaign.
Last year Hecht had to pay a $29,000 fine as a result of a separate ethics probe into accepting and failing to report discounted legal fees from a law firm.
