Thelen Reid Loses Another Name Partner

Less than two years after his law firm merged with Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner, name partner Richard Raysman is planning to join Otterbourg Steindler Houston & Rosen in New York City.

His move follows the earlier defection of name partner Peter Brown and five Thelen Reid practice heads, reports Legal Times, in an article reprinted by New York Lawyer (reg. req.). Both Brown and Raysman joined Thelen Reid in late 2006, via a merger of their former law firm, 250-attorney Brown, Raysman, Millstein Felder & Steiner, with the larger Thelen firm.

"The departures, coupled with spring layoffs, have left a significant dent in the firm's headcount and sparked public talk of efforts to seal a speedy merger," the article says of Thelen Reid.

As discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post, some 50 lawyers reportedly left the Thelen firm between March and July of this year. Plus, the firm laid off an additional 26 associates.
